One of our most popular posts to date is my accidental manifesto about how to wear tights to work, but it’s a couple years old and a few items are no longer available.
Most upsettingly, after reigning as The World’s Best Patterned Tights for several years, my beloved Hue Textured Diamond Tights are gone.
What a bummer – and I discovered that these budget wonders had been discontinued after blowing through several pairs of tights that needed to be thrown away in one morning. While I don’t have as many encounters with velcro as I did when Bonnie was a toddler, my hosiery kryptonite still lurks in strange places.
I’ve been researching new options and today I’m sharing the three best.
(1) The Best Patterned Tights on a Budget
Whether you’re on a budget, have a kid, or just hate spending a lot of money on tights, these No Nonsense Womens Great Shapes Diamond Texture Control Top Tights are the best place to start. They’re $6.59 and have great reviews (free shipping; Made in the USA).
(2) Updated Diamond Design Tights by Hue
Hue hasn’t abandoned the idea of diamond tights altogether. My favorite alternative is the Hue Birdseye Diamond Control Top Tights ($15 or 2 for $24 from Bloomingdale’s; Made in the USA).
Amazon has a few other diamond tight designs by Hue – including some colors.
Jockey also makes patterned tights in this price range, but I haven’t worn their tights before and can’t find any reviews.
(3) Best Patterned Tights For a Splurge
Spanx Girl’s Best Friend Diamond Tights look fab-u-lous. That pretty lingerie detail even makes the control top look cute!
I love Spanx tights, but at $32 they are a bit of a splurge – especially since this semi-sheer design is unlikely to be as durable as opaque tights by Spanx. Perhaps they’re best saved for a kid-free night out.
