It seems like the best collaborations introduce you to a brand – or even an artist – that you’ve never heard of before.
Such is the case with SmartWool’s fun new Charley Harper collection of socks and clothes.
I love, love, love SmartWool socks (check out more of our posts that feature them here). Comfy and cozy SmartWool socks are a must for cold-weather travel, a delight to wear any other time, and one of my all-time favorite gifts for men and women.
So if SmartWool were making socks with peacock or butterfly designs, I would NEED to have them.
And my latest butterfly search on SmartWool’s website yielded this:
And even this:
The second SmartWool Butterfly Socks ($24.95; Made in the USA; also available in Capri & from Zappos) and the SmartWool Women’s Henley ($95) that are also shown above are part of a collaboration featuring the art of naturalist and painter Charley Harper.
Naturally, I wanted to know more about the artist. It turns out that Amazon’s Charley Harper page is a perfect place to start.
The best introduction – and a lovely gift idea for anyone who loves nature or art – would be Todd Oldman’s book, Charley Harper: An Illustrated Life ($22.95 from Amazon).
What a great discovery!
